Windows 8 is an Microsoft operating system released October 26, 2012. It is the sucessor to Windows 7, which was released three years earlier in 2009.

On March 26, 2013, Microsoft officially announced that an update to Windows 8, named Windows Blue, would be released later in the year. The official release date of Windows 8.1 is October 26, 2013. It will come free to any person who already has Windows 8.
